Supporting the Culpeper Academic Boosters

Since 1992, the Culpeper Academic Boosters has proudly recognized over 2,000 students in their weekly and yearly Spotlight™ awards, as well as the top 1% and 2% of each graduating class from each of the high schools in the county. As a completely independent organization from the school system, they are able to process each Spotlight application anonymously, to ensure each is handled with equal measure and care. They are organized and led by parents and members of the local community, and are supported exclusively by generous donations and volunteers.

At the beginning of each academic year, seniors, juniors, and sophomores from each high school submit applications documenting their activities and achievements. Those are reviewed, anonymously via an assigned ID number, by a committee of outside participants. Each reviewer votes on multiple applications, and the recommendations are compiled to determine the winners. Articles are published weekly featuring the Spotlight winners, along with acknowledgement on signs at local businesses and school bulletin boards. At the end of the school year, they recognize a Spotlight Student of the Year, at each grade level, with special awards.
